FRY CLUB COLTS        3

YATE UTD                    2

This was the first time we had played Yate Utd for many seasons and it was a big ‘6 pointer’ as they were also near the bottom of the table.

James Boulton was injured so Scott Gregory slotted into the back 4 and a move to right back for Danny McCarthy helped to support Ryan Gibbs first start for some time in Midfield. Early pressure from Frys paid off as Brad Monelle was presented with a free kick which flew over the bar. We also suffered an injury to Kyle Curtis after 10 mins so an immediate change was made with Jordan Knight coming on left side midfield. Following another Brad Monelle shot, we gained a corner following a good save. Jordan Knights kick was perfectly flighted onto Oli Randalls head to put us 1-0 up. A further chance fell to Lewis Watt but his shot took a deflection into the keepers hands. Yate's first attack tested keeper Craig Francis who made a wonderful save around the post for a corner. Our marking and concentration from the kick though was poor as a free header allowed Yate to draw level at 1-1. Back we came though as a Frys corner to Lewis Watt gave him a chance to cross the ball back into Oli Randall but his shot went straight into the keepers hands. A free kick was won which Mo Bouaziz took half way into the Yate half of the pitch. His cross to Brad Monelle gave Brad a chance to run at the defence which drew a free kick just outside the right side of the box. Lewis Watt stood up to take it and his precise left foot shot curled around the wall and keeper into the top left corner of the net to put us back into the lead at 2-1. A fantastic strike which was worthy of a goal. Once again though we were guilty of giving the ball away which gave Yate another shot on goal to put them 2-2 into half time.

Despite the set back of conceding 2 goals, we remained confident of creating and scoring further opportunities. Another good run down the right wing gave Brad Monelle a chance to cross to Lewis Watt at the far post but Brads chip was just plucked to safety by the keeper. Both Ben Keen and Danny McCarthy were providing good support in defence and to create chances pushing forward. From a pass from Danny, we gained another free kick which Mo Bouaziz took charge of. His shot over the wall was saved by the keeper but spotted by the linesman as behind the goal line so a goal was awarded to put us back in front at 3-2. Scott Palma was brought on for Ryan Gibbs who had supported the Midfield very well. Scott had an instant impact by winning a ball and put through a good pass to Charles Frampton. Charlie's cross to Oli Randall was met on the volley which just fizzed past the post. Another forward run by Danny McCarthy gave him a chance to move the ball down the line to Lewis Watt. His pass found Charlie whose shot on the turn again just went wide. Oli Murray played a good part of the second half to aid his return from his ankle injury and looked very comfortable. With both Oli Randall and Mo in the centre of midfield playing well, Yates chances were few and far between and we eventually saw out the game to earn a deserved 3-2 victory.

An important 3 points and an improved performance from last week. Man of the Match was awarded to Ben Keen for a good defensive performance.
